First Offense DUI in Wyoming

Wyoming drivers who are convicted of a DUI for the first time are subject to potential jail time, fines, and a substance abuse assessment, in addition to a 90-day license suspension.

If the conviction results from a DUI with a BAC of .015 or more, the driver can only operate vehicles with an ignition interlock device from an approved provider like (Intoxalock ) for a period of six months after obtaining an Ignition Interlock Restricted License (IIR License).

If injury or death was caused during the accident, fines increase and the potential jail term increases to 10 years. Offenders who have a minor in the car will also be subject to additional penalties.

Second Offense DUI in Wyoming

A second conviction within 10 years in Wyoming will result in increased penalties. Convicted drivers can receive 7 days to 6 months in jail, $200 to $750 in fines, a requirement to receive a substance abuse assessment, and a one-year license suspension. A convicted driver must only operate vehicles equipped with an IID from an approved provider like (Intoxalock ) for a period of one year after obtaining an IIR License.

Third Offense DUI in Wyoming

A third conviction will be taken very seriously, and anyone convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol for the third time will have their license revoked for 3 years and will be required to only operate vehicles with an IID from an approved provider like (Intoxalock ) for a period of two years) after obtaining an IIR license. They also risk 30 days to 6 months in jail, $750-$3,000 in fines, and must complete a substance abuse assessment and possible treatment.

To regain driving privileges, drivers may need to:

  • Apply for the “IIR” restricted driver’s license
  • Pay any necessary fees or fines including a $50 reinstatement fee, a regular driver’s license fee, and a $100 IID administrative fee
  • Show proof and file SR-22 insurance with the DOT
  • Install an ignition interlock device on any vehicle you plan on driving from an approved provider like (Intoxalock )
  • Provide a certificate of installation proving your IID was installed by a Wyoming-certified technician
