Iowa DOT changes drivers' license process post-quarantine

As Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced some businesses will reopen in early May, the Iowa Department of Transportation announced changes to their appointment protocols for those who need to obtain or renew drivers’ licenses.

As of May 1, 2020, the Iowa DOT will allow individuals to schedule one-on-one appointments for all drivers’ licenses, to continue normal business operations while practicing social distancing.

As Iowa businesses reopen, you can now get back on the road safely, by completing your IID requirement and scheduling your appointment to get your license back.

  1. To get started, call (833) 623-0200 to schedule your interlock device installation.
  2. Once installed, schedule your DOT appointment online to obtain your restricted license: https://iowadot.gov/mvd/other-appointments
