Intoxalock Now a Certified Installer in South Carolina

Intoxalock is now a certified ignition interlock device provider in the state of South Carolina. The entry into South Carolina marks the 46th state where the company is certified to provide state-required ignition interlock devices. Additionally, the company continues to offer voluntary installations in all 50 states.

Installation Services

Intoxalock offers South Carolina residents installation services for ignition interlock devices across the state. “We are excited to bring Intoxalock to South Carolina customers. Intoxalock offers ignition interlock program participants unmatched service and convenience with 24/7 customer service by phone, chat, email or Android and iPhone apps and service centers throughout the state,” says Kimberly Williams, CEO of Intoxalock.

"Our ability to offer convenient scheduling times and a variety of locations helps our clients succeed with their interlock program,” said Kerry Keller, Vice President of Compliance and Field Operations at Intoxalock.

South Carolina DUIs and Driving Privileges

All convicted DUI offenders are required to install an ignition interlock device in order to gain any driving privileges following a license revocation period of at least one month. Second and subsequent DUIs will result in suspensions ranging from 3 to 18 months, with mandatory ignition interlock monitoring required for the restoration of driving privileges.

Using an Ignition Interlock Device

To use the Intoxalock ignition interlock device, a driver simply pushes a button, submits his or her breath sample and waits for the LED screen to display “passed” or “failed.” If the driver passes, he or she can start the vehicle and head to his or her destination. If a driver doesn't pass, he or she will be unable to start the car until a passing breath sample is provided.

Intoxalock devices are primarily used by people legally required to install an ignition interlock device because of a drunk-driving violation. However, individuals and businesses are voluntarily installing car breathalyzer devices as a prevention method to guarantee sober driving and protect fleet assets and litigation against employees and companies.
