Every vehicle needs routine maintenance and the occasional repair — even those vehicles with an ignition interlock device installed.
You might be hesitant to make those repairs, but maintaining your vehicle is necessary and can be done even if you have a car breathalyzer installed. You will need to take a few extra steps to prepare to have the maintenance performed:
Notify your mechanic. Many mechanics will have experience working on a vehicle with an ignition interlock. When you make the appointment, tell the shop you have a device installed. During the maintenance, your mechanic will need to submit breath samples, so you should take an extra mouthpiece for them to use.
Report maintenance on the Intoxalock Mobile App or on MyAccount. Any maintenance needs to be reported through your Intoxalock Mobile App (on mobile devices) OR through MyAccount (on desktop computers). You will report the start date and time of service prior to the service appointment. Once the appointment is complete you will also report that service is finished. If any power interruptions or missed tests happen during maintenance, Intoxalock will have a record that this happened while the mechanic was working on your car. Please use the Intoxalock Mobile App or MyAccount to report that the maintenance has started and when it is complete.

Bring the instruction manual. You have access to your ignition interlock’s instruction manual through MyAccount. Print a copy to let your mechanic reference it if necessary.
