Driving in Colorado After a DUI
With an Intoxalock Ignition Interlock Device

If you were convicted of a DUI in Colorado, your license will be suspended. However, you may still regain your driving privileges with the installation of an Intoxalock ignition interlock device.
To obtain your Ignition Interlock Restricted License through early reinstatement, you must:
High BAC Offense
If you have been convicted of a first offense DUI and your Breath Alcohol Content (BrAC) was 0.17 or greater, you must complete all items required for a first offense, in addition to:

Enrolling and completing a Level II alcohol education and therapy course

Completeing the Affidavit of Enrollment - Form DR2643

Maintaining an interlock restricted license for at least 2 years following reinstatement

If you were convicted of a second offense DUI within 5 years your license will be suspended for 1 year. In order to regain your license you must:

Complete the Application for Reinstatement - Form DR2870

Pay a $95 reinstatement fee (check/money order payable to the Department of Revenue)

Maintain SR22 insurance for three years from the date of reinstatement

Enroll and complete a Level II alcohol education and therapy course, if required

Install the Intoxalock Legacy ignition interlock device and maintain for two years

If you were convicted of a third or subsequent offense DUI within your lifetime, your license will be suspended for 2 years. However, you can apply for early reinstatement after serving a one year revocation period. In order to regain your license you must:

Complete the Application for Reinstatement - Form DR2870

Pay a $95 reinstatement fee (check/money order payable to the Department of Revenue)

Maintain SR22 insurance for three years from the date of reinstatement

Enroll and complete a Level II alcohol education and therapy course, if required

If you have refused a chemical test for either drugs or alcohol on a second or third offense, you may regain your driving privileges by applying for early reinstatement.
